Hi all,

I wonder if anyone owns a Stalwart, or knows someone who does?

I'm trying to find out which of Sweden's 26 or so Amfibiebil 101 are still out there. I now know that 15 of the 101s were bought by a UK company and shipped back to the UK in 1983.

In each of the 101s is an Alvis Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Plate, which shows the Type, Chassis number and Military registration number. Whilst I've been given a known list of registrations, I have one in the UK which has a registration number outside of those recorded.

So if you do have access, and could share a clear image of the VIN plate please - then I'd really appreciate it.

Sadly, this 41140 one isn't very clear - and I can't read the chassis number. The owner has gone off Social media due to moving house.

Many thanks for your help.

The Amfibiebil 101 B had the same VIN plates as the British FV620 Mark 1 Stalwarts.
Stalwart 125 was Swedish registration 41122

It was quite easy to locate two of them, ell gong to the Swedish army museum. Most likely they can support you with the VIN number and photo of the plates.

Thanks. I forgot to add this image as well. KA2 museum is 41134 and Arsenalen is 41136 and 41123.

I first contacted Arsenalen in 2020, and it took until 2023 to have any sort of conversation with them.

MilMac refuse to respond to emails, Facebook, etc. Even European buyers of parts struggle to get a response when they write in English - but I am assured that they speak good English, so it must be just the attitude.

I have a website, with all my research on the Alvis Stalwart and on the Amfibiebil 101

I'm in the UK, and not in a position to do international phone calls.

It's interesting that virtually all my emails to Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Thailand all got through and were responded to.
I've tagged a number of these Swedish people in various military vehicle groups on Facebook, and still not had an acknowledgement from them - whilst they've continued to have conversations with other people.
In my culture that's just rude and arrogant.

MilMac is a dealer and thus it seems only interested in making money. (Just a personal reflection based on the prices)
I have passed by there numerous of times and it doesn't seem that a lot is going on. I guess the hay days when the Swedish military sold out vehicles for practially nothing is over and they are just doing business on what's in stock.

Alot of older Swedish people doesn't write in English, but they may understand and speak a few words.

You could try Försvarsmaktens militära fordonsregister (Mifor) mifor-fmlog@mil.se but I don't know if they can help you without an army number plate (Vehicle registration plate)

Many thanks for this, Joe

Is MilMac's museum open, or do people have to ring up in advance to visit it?

I used to translate my emails and posts to Swedish, and send the Swedish text and English text in the same emails/posts - to show consideration and respect. But a Norwegian chap got offended by the poor Swedish translation, without offering to correct the mistakes. So I was advised to just send it in English.

I do have various military registration numbers, as shown here. I'll email them and ask them to sniff around the know ones, to see if it turns up any more.

Many thanks

Many companies here in Sweden never even respond to email if they have "enough" work. They list the email of course but will not anwser any inquiries unless they really need your business

Indeed, Robert.
But that shouldn't be the same for museums, or committee members of Old comrades associations :blinkis:

I assume that MilMac's museum is only open by appointment. Have never seen a sign by the road mentioning the museum.
