Starting Problems

Hi
I have resently bought a hymac 580c, Iam very pleased with the machine. It have worked very nicely, started in the first try, but today when I have run it for kopple of ours and I decided to taka a brake. The machine didnt start again, I thougt the battery have not enough of power but I tried to changed the battery to another fresh newly charched and it whre not a bit better. then I tried to connect a starting cable from the enging to the minus pole on the battery - no result. The engine goes around but very slowly. no kick.

Hi and welcome!

Ok, so we can exclude the battery and the negative cable.
But what about the positive cable from the battery to the starter motor?
My next idea is the starter motor itself. If one of the brushes are worn out the starter motor gets very weak and usually the amperage increases a lot. Sometimes this fault are "cured" when the starter motor cools down but the cure is usually only temporary.
Measuring the voltage at the battery and at the starter motor at starting attempts could be useful.

Today I started to give the starter motor a new try, I took a new fresh batteru and connect it directly on the starter motor just to eliminate evrery doubt to the wirering on the mashine, didnt work ant det starter were cold.
I took the starter home to the garage an put it in the bench and give it a try. it goes around but not more. I check the brusches an they seems to be okey. when I have run it in the bench a few seconds more I could se a litte of smoke come out ocf the starter. Is it the wiering in the starter who is the problem?? and how can I mesure that.
