Crank shaft for Slew Motor broken, how often does this happen, what are possible causes , Too much load during slew?.it happened while turning with bucket of sand.

I have heard of slew motor cranks breaking before, these parts are available so any problems let me know and I will try and put you in contact with somebody who can help you.
There is no particular reason for this as far as I know.

I shall search for it locally first, actually I do have an immediate repacement , I recently got a complete slew motor from a local breaker, but would like to explore having Backup+1 on hand for further events.

Actually what is killing is the weight and thus cost of shipment from say Uk to Guyana, last time I bought a part it cost more than the cost of the part to ship and import taxes ( which is charged based on (cost of item + cost to ship) sounds silly but true!

the machine is pretty old and we have been doing a lot of land clearing , moving sizeable trees and stuff( don't worry not hurting the environment)

The slew motor is of make staffa. Cause to broken shaft can be to high setting of cross over relief valves.
I use tu buy used Hymac parts from Kenneth robsson equipmnt or Harry stenhouse Blackpool hydraulics.
