Hymac 580 C brake shoe replacement

Ok...first post here...I've bought a 580 C for reasonable money, but noticed that the right track brake isn't holding...I've removed the big plate and noticed there is no lining on brake shoes and the small hydraulic ram is leaking...to remove the brake shoes is it just a matter of removing the pins that connect the linkages? I am trying to post some photos...this is her

There is a adjustment for the brakeshoes at the bottom. If ju realese the adjustment it should be pretty easy to pull the pins out. Nice to se a 580C in good shape love to some more pictures of it.

Thanks Antevante...yeah, the pins on the Ram are easy to pull out...so just slacken bottom turnbuckle...I will post some more pics very soon..I only have her a week but need to fix brake and leaking seal on bucket ram...have made a tool to remove end cap...will let you know how I get on tomorrow..

Here are some more pictures...as you can see I've cleaned the undercarriage and sprayed it, along with touching up the paint up on the body-work.
In one of the photos, you can see the tool I have made for removing the cylinder end cap for replacing seals...the undercarriage is in good condition and has never been cracked...there is plenty of work in the old girl yet..

She is looking good! Amazing what some paint and work can do. Great with long dipper arm, they are not so common here in sweden. Im looking for one to use on my 580BT.

Never seen a 580 with no welded cracks i the undercarriage;) As you say shes got many years left to dig.

I can recomend you to buy the service manual for 580C. Trust me its very usefull.

Thanks Tjocksmocksjocke...I already have the brake shoes and the snall ram for the brakes wrapped in newspaper to see what I can find in the breakers,,,I intend to have her running well,,,she is a wee beauty

So I got the brake shoes and seals for the brake ram locally and brake is working well


Does anyone have any suggestions how to remove the end cap on the bucket dipper cylinder/ram?...thanks in advance

Got the end cap off the bucket cylinder, using this....a 5 foot stillson wrench borrowed from local engineering works...now for the new seals

Managed to get some work down wither today...clearing a ditch and clearing a hedge for putting a fence up...she is a bit sloppy on the slew but will get used to it...maybe a worn spring in control valve..
