580C Mangled Track Gearbox

Finally got around to doing a bit more....
First bearing for pinion shaft

Bearing for Output shaft...

Assembled gearbox with old output gear as RG had sent wrong one and I'm waiting on replacement..

I was lucky that the housing/seat for the bearing in the casing for the output pininion wasn't destroyed...
I intend to finish it when the replacement (eventually) arrives and mount the output shaft to the bearing with loctite 660..

I will take more photos as I forgot when I was reassmbling the transmission...

Thanks...To be honest, it wasn't as difficult as I anticipated...Will put the chain on the drive and try it before putting brakes and track on..

I agree. I tell you, test drive it whitout the lid its very satisfying wachting everything spinn inside!

Dont forget to fill upp oil before you close it. So much easier than using the plug.

Correct gear arrived so commencing final assembly. Hopefully just the brakes to assemble and lids and track to put on...Hope I don't have to look inside here again..

Good work! I can recomend you to seal the gearbox cover plate with special silicon to avoid water to penetrate over time

Looks very nice! As long as you check the oil level once in a while it will hopefully last a lifetime.
Will you put some degreaser and wash it thoroughly before closing it up? Seems dirty.

Thanks Guys...This site has been a great help..I intend to clean it before sealing it...My problem has been working outside and it is very windy and wet where the machine is parked so a lot of debris tends to blow into it..Irish winter...Lol...
I was just going to use normal gasket sealer to seal the transmission but I will look on Monday to see what product to use...Can you recommend a brand?
I have no idea what the other box is but I will be listening carefully for any strange sounds.

There is a bit of looseness in the chain but I notice it has been split before, and has suffered a failure so it is probably not original....However, it seems within tolerances...fingers crossed...

Cleaned it out, put oil in and tested it....seems to be fine....put lids on and it was very difficult to get track on...It took 4 hours in the cold and it got dark...hopefully get the brakes assembled next

Everything seems ok...got her into a house finally...
I managed to break the top pipe for the track motor when putting the track on but I was able to get one for £10 from the breaker beside my..Very glad to be finished this...

Here are some pictures of her...as you can see, she is not in showroom condition...lol

Nice fix of the pipe. Your Hymac looks fine for it's age. Do you have the old original digging controls in the cabin? Or did you upgrade it to joysticks?

Everything is working through the two levers...the pedals are disconnected...so its left and right on the right lever for the slew and backwards and forwards on the right for the dipper arm...the left is as normal i.e. bucket and boom...
I would love to upgrade to joysticks using cables like our hedgecutter...Is it a big job?...I see a few of you on here have done that...
