Old Hymac in Norway

Hi, great forum! My name is Geir and I am from Norway, my neighbour both a Hymac HM-690 couple of years ago. The last owner has changed the original engine for a Mercedes truck engine. When my neighbour got it home, he noticed that the track tension was weak (the track was to loose). He then got the track adjuster reconditioned, and the excavator runs just fine. But last summer it began to leak too much hydraulic oil. It also got (have been for a vile) weak on the rotator, and it newer stood still (rotated away when digging at the side of a ditch). This spring we decided to get something done. It turn out that the brake on the rotator was disconnected mechanically, we just mounted all parts back on, and now we hope it will work. The oil leak is on the rotator distributor, it turned out all the seals were worn-out. We ordered new seals yesterday (it have to be made, and the fabrication will take 2-4 days), and we can’t wait to get them mounted. The hydraulic motor for the rotator is pretty worn, but we decided to make the best out of it, then we just have to se. I’ll try post some pictures of the machine one day.

Hi Geir Your English is good. I look forward to seeing the pics of the 690.
The 690 was basically an 890 without the servo control levers, the 690 having the same type of control as the old 580C etc....

Hi, here are a couple of pictures, I will post more pictures later.
By the way, can someone tell me what that electrical motor are for? I guess it should be something connected to that? Also, I wonder about somebody have any schematic on the hydraulic system for this machine?

Hi Geir,

I have a simple hydraulic circuit map of an 890 machine I believe it to be virtually the same as the 690 but can't say for certain.

Hi Geir,

Thanks for posting pics the machine looks in good condition for its age. You asked about the electric motor, looks like its been disconnected for a while now because you can see paint on the square drive peg

I think this motor originally operated an electric re-fuelling pump so I'm lead to believe if you need confirmation of this I will have a word with a friend of mine who was a fully trained Hymac fitter.

Jeremy, thank you very much for the circuit diagram! It makes the troubleshooting much easier!
The question about the electric motor was mainly curiosity.
The machine is in pretty god condition, a little play in connections/bolts her and there. A little sweaty (we call it sweaty in Norway, means tiny leaks?) And of course a little rusty, some dents and worn paint. But all in all it runs great, and have done a god job for us already. As soon as we get the seals, it go back to work again (just on private land).
Have some of you any idea how old it could be, just curious?

Hi Geir,

Thanks for the pics I can give you a rough estimate of the machines age, I know that the 890 commenced production in 1975 and ceased production in 1984 so I would imagine that your 690 was made sometime between these dates probably 77-80 that would be my best guess.
If you need parts or help then I have a few contacts overhere that may be able to help you.
