Ok,
What is the difference between a 580C and 580D are there any interchengable parts for the undercarriage for example . I wanted to know because I have 2 x 580C and have been offered a scrap 580D ? what's useful for the 580C?

I am particularly interested in Idler/Track components compatibility

Hi Validum,

I am almost certain that most of the track components on the 580C are the same as those on the newer 580D model.

The difference is the upper structure with these machines, Jeremy will be able to offer more technical knowledge on the two models :thummar:

Yes my friend Nick is correct the 580D undercarriage should be the same as the 580C.
I have also seen a 580D with and old 580B dipper stick fitted to it so I don't see why you couldn't use the dipper and also I think some of the rams.

Hi Guys

Well I hav'nt seen the machine as yet it is some distance away , I understand that it requires a triple pump setup to become serviceable ( some one stole the triple pumps) .

Are the 580C pumps compatible ?? I have an extra set of those.
I really would need to move the machine preferably under it's own steam since it is on an island and it will need to board a ferry to cross one river then over a floating bridge ( on a low bed trailer) to cross the other
river. The ultimate option is to dissemble it and bring it over on trucks then reassemble it again.

So the question stands can the 580C triple pumps fit the 580D?

Hi Validum,

Sorry to say but the pumps and fitment on the 580D are totally different than that of the 580C, so your spare pumps won't fit :sad:
I also asked Richard about the undercarriage, there are some minor differences but on the whole most of the bits should be usable on a 580C.

Hello jeremy,
I see what you say , the hydraulics are different , anyway the machine is unservicable and I shall have to chop it up to move it , will let you have more pics later.
Maybe I can alos get the Dipper arm and ram to work on the 580C????
see pic bleow , My son standing next to the machine, ( the engine is also not working and missing the Starter/Alternator/Diesel pump /Radiator/Oil Cooler etc...)

Hi Validum, thanks for posting the pic much appreciated. I cannot say for certain that the boom and dipper are interchangeable with a 580C but I don't see why they shouldn't.
As I have said in this post I seen pics of a 580D with an old 580B dipper arm fitted so there must be some parts that will be interchangeable.
Shame this machine is missing so many parts cos it didn't look to be in bad condition well from the pic anyway.
Good luck with it I will ask Richard when I speak to him again.

actually it seems
repairable the frame is good not much rusting, in the cabin , mostluy around the door frame, but too many parts missing , all the hoses are shot and the Hydraulic setup , the pumps and I guess there were filters are gone, the slew motor is intact. and the walking motors are intact, most track bushings are worn out, left idler was swapped for what looks like a dozer idler It will definitely be too expensive for me to rehab

Hi Validum when you get the machine back I would hang on to the bits you don't use you may be able to sell them on to somebody else who has a 580D over there?
Just a thought.
Real shame there's so many parts missing from a machine thats otherwise in a reasonable condition for its age.
Let us know how you get on with the transport and thanks for the pics :thummar:
