Hello everybody! I posted some pictures in the presentationpart of the forum a couple of days ago, but I´d like to show you some more pictures on the ongoing "makeover" of my Hymac 580CT -80

This is a couple of pictures after we bought it:

I´m a courius guy and before we start digging, I´ll like to know the status of the machine so we have started to check the electrical system and we have mounted some new lamps and we will mount a couple more (will Xenonconvert those later). We have painted the boom and dipper arm and I made some new decals for that one too. Today I dismounted the cover over the chains... They we half full with water... Lucky it was filled with grease, I´m cleaning this area, and will grease the chains and I´ll mount new gaskets too.

Here´s some pictures that are a couple of minutes old:

New decals and black Hammeritepaint
Bild

A LOT of mud has been removed...
Bild

Some new black paint here too. I suppose there has been some kind of cover on the box at the right of the motor, does anyone know how it should look?
Bild

Was half full with water but I think it looks quite good in there
Bild

Looks like it´s worse, but the "rust" on the chains was easy to remove. The chains seems to be "slack", might change that one later on.
Bild

Some sanding and painting on the machine will be done too
Bild

I´ve been studying the repair handbook (that I also uploaded in the Hymac downloadsection here) but I´m not really sure what´s behind the brakebox cover, is it any oil or can I remove the cover without getting "attacked" by oil or anything else? :P

Hi Edis,

No problem taking the brake box cover off, there should not be too much oil inside unless the small hydraulic ram inside has a leak? The main thing you will encounter is brake band dust !! try to wear a mask as this is not good stuff to be breathing in !

If my memory serves me right, there should be a gasket around the track drive chain cover plate?? This should deter water from getting in?

You are doing a great job with your Hymac thanks for sharing your photos with us

Some sanding, cleaning and paint and they look nice again
Bild

I´ve done a lot cleaning and brushing here
Bild

Some paint here too, and there will be much more of that before I´m ready...
Bild

The old sign didn´t look so nice

I forgot to take more pictures after this, but it´s all gone and I´m sanding it so it will be bare and brushed alu with a new logo

Thanks for posting Edis :thummar:

Looks like your making a good job of restoring your machine, the machine is in good condition for its age.
Will be most interesting to see what she's like when you've finished all your restoration work.
I would check that all your track rollers are moving okay if you need to free any off then there is already a post on this forum on how to do that.
Good luck and keep up the good work. :buga:
