1260C in The USA

Hello All.

I thought i would introduce myself. My Name is Robert Lockwood, and I'm a 22 year old earthmoving contractor in Washington state, USA. After years of hoping and dreaming, I recently bought my first huddig from Hans, and the local dealer Vancer. It's a 4000 hour 1260C Rail, we plan to take the rail gear off of.



Would love to hear advice, tips, or huddig stories.

That must be an odd bird in the US! What are your first impressions of the machine? And how is it received by your clients, and your "competition"? Also the rototilt must be relatively exotic over there.
I dont have a Huddig myself, but its a really nice machine. As the saying goes: Its not best at anything, but good at most things.

I think you will get more questions than answers here to start with, I hope you can live with that.
As I understand there is a small but growing market for rototilts in USA today? It must be several years now since Engcon was at ConExpo for the first time. And then there's DirtNinja on youtube of course.
I'm guessing your Huddig is a lot more unique than the rototilt, there's probably a lot more rototilts than Huddigs on the market.

Since it is equipped with railwheels I'm guessing it's a railway company or a railway maintenance company of decent size that bought it new, is that correct?

I travelled through Washington state many years ago, doing a road trip all around the states. Very nice, best travel memory.

Good to see that even Americans could use a decent machine. Its a bit mystifying to see backhoes with permanent mount buckets over there, its decades since we found out that there is better things than that. I have a 1160 myself, use to say that it is not the best at anything but that it can do everything. Be prepared that there can be odd problems, some that you cause by missing that some button is applied at the wrong time, some that the machine find out just to test you. A good contact with someone who really understands Huddig is very valuable.

The rototilt is not very common here, we have always had tilt rotators, so it’s normal for us, but most contractors don’t, there’s maybe 100 total on the west coast of America! So far the only way to describe the Huddig is Amazing.

Most contractors think it’s stupid, and most customers think it’s amazing. We are using it like a wheeled excavator mostly, doing a lot of backfilling and grading. Hopefully I can run this machine myself always, we try and have operator dedicated machines, but we end up sharing a lot, which I don’t like much.

Well one input I can give is that it's the same in Sweden, very common with operator dedicated machines. Probably more so for Huddig (and the other Scandinavian backhoes Hydrema and Lännen) than for other type of equipment. Also very common with owner operator on these machines.

We are moving a lot of earth here, 2000 cubic meters, mostly with the huddig.






we are having some learning curve with the huddig. it is hard to make jerky movements with the bucket, to shake materials out

is anyone running s60 on there hudding? we want to, so it can share with 13 ton excavators

Never seen a Huddig with s60. The problem with sharing equipment can be solved by adaptors.
