I owe it to myself... I think I have to remove the fan and put a modern truck electric spal on the radiator, redo the engine mounts and maybe cut the oil pan so that it can pass level with the gear Before ? some electrical probe wires and I think that's pretty much everything?

the original D42 radiator is very big and the hydraulic pump fits on the gears I think?

I'm a welder, that's why I think it will be easier to adapt

Hello friends! I finally gave in I started the project of putting a TD60 in my Volvo BM616B I received my engine and I tried to put the bell of my old D42 engine but it does not go to the oil pan , the D42 bell goes down too low, do you know if leaving the TD60 bell and putting the D42 clutch in would it be suitable?


Second question! I am looking for a pinion that would fit the timing wheel to adapt my power steering pump, do you have a pinion reference?

What bellhousing do you have for the TD60?
Which version of TD60 do you have? A, B, C...? From what vehicle?
Some solved the different height of TD60 block and D42 bellhousing by cutting and rewelding the oil pan+ silicone or added a spacer plate... You might also have clearance issue with starter in this way. When I did a similar swap, I got bellhousing and flywheel from a wheel loader with TD60 engine, much less headache.

Some tractors with TD60 have a power steering pump in that location.

HT65 has been used with both TD50 and TD60 engines so no worries there if the trans is in good shape.

It's a TD60 from Volvo 846 according to what it was marked on the sales advert ideally I would have liked to keep the original bell on the td60 even if the flywheel has to be machined (the toothed part springs a little more than that of the td60)

you would have to dig like the one in the photo to have one identical to the d42, I have the impression

What is "springs a little bit more" ?

Maybe the high-mounted compressor tries to tell that the TD60 came from a 860/861 dumper/ articulated hauler, with a big hydraulic pump in the usual compressor mounting place. Same HT65 based transmission thou.

I put photos of the clutch bell I have the impression that it is a "deep" bell on the td60 and a "short" one on the d42?

What do you think the best solution would be for connecting the box?

Not aware of any 846 with turbo from factory. I think is Turbodiesel is correct in his guess.

Anyway - the flywheel on the 4 cylinder is more clumsy than on the 6 cylinder. "Think it looks different" will not work. Just measure how deep the converter drive gear and pilot hole sits compared to the bellhousing flange and compare.

Do not throw the D42, might be useable stuff on it.

yes there are little things to do find a water pump replace the turbo but the engine is running by hand I have to start it soon to see if everything is okay, afterwards even if I have to do more repairs once the adaptation will be done the hardest part will be done for me... the mechanics I manage but I don't know a lot about the world of Volvo BM all that ahah

okey! it's good the bell and the TD60 846 clutch are actually the same according to the measurements, they do not have the same visual but are identical
