Got some nice graphite/moly rich spray chain lube that'll do the job nicely Gute
found this on ebay which looks to be the same fitting for a 'chop' ... a neighbour has a Freelander two and i'll have to have a look at theirs to size it up

been a lot of CAT.s being pinched around here lately ... especially from multi storey car parks ..... was a big spate about 10 years ago too when they were fetching huge money for scrap

for modifying to accept a jaw ? is that just a Ball & Pin ?

Got the same type on the Vectra. It comes off once a year, and thats at the MOT. Here the entire traficsafety system depends on that bloody thing is properly removeable. I hate it! next time I trade cars, I'll cut a substansial number of thousands off the price, if it has been defiled with a detatchable hitch

Can be either Gute .... straight forward Ball or Jaw or a combi unit or a jaw with a ball type pin it

this is what i have on the back of my P38


I have one of these on the back of my Discovery D1


one I mounted for a friend to tow a vintage bus with


conventional 50mm ball coupling -- could also used to get a 2" version of this - 50mm will not go on a 2" but a 2" will go on a 50mm unit (and come off all too easily too if confused)


all mount on a 3.5" ctr plate which is what I would want to attach to the alternate removable unit with 3 differing levels like I have on the back of my P38 Range Rover ..... all bases covered with a combi or jaw and pin

removed my hitch completely from my disco 2 it was the same typ as your p38 it acted like a boat anchor in the hills and forest

the pin ones is not very common in sweden on cars more on tractors and lorries

the one in the first picture are some sort standard size? been looking at a trailer to buy that has loop on it dont know the correct name of it and need to change my hitch on my sprinter to work

never seen one like that before
make up a receiver plate at 3.5" ctr.s with two M16 studs tapped and welded into it, then weld the receiver to your tow bar with the studs facing rearward .. then you can bolt on any conventional hitch you like
or
make up a slider mount to pin on anything you want ... will get a pic of what I made for the back of my Discovery D1 for you
