Got the rest of the welds done to firm up the second half of the patio balustrade, this morning :vissla:

went on to the Mec pretty well apparently and has been frightening a few hedges today :cool:

needs a few alterations to the plumbing lengths and a couple of minor adjustments to improve the layout but is fine for now, especially as it was sorted remotely !! :thumme:

I do know he managed to find this ....... :lmao:

few shots to give you an idea of fit .... the clamp obviously will fit, either way around, to suit applications, quite easily :vissla:

as said .... the plumbing is a job in progress and needing some fine tuning,
but got it going and usable (carefully) for now

the check valve set up as a CLRV works a treat and allows the motor to run down slowly, once the pressure flow is stopped. :thumme:

once the 1st March deadline's been met ... we can get the fine tuning on the pipe work sorted for a more permanent job ! :thummar:

Was Shanghai-ed into 'assisting' with some gardening, but did manage to sneak off for a few minutes here and there and do a couple of things...... :vissla:

BIL's fencing out of my way, ready to collect ..... gonna leave the feet loose, after a conversation about the floor, it's going on .... levels aren't 'guaranteed', so loose fix feet ... sit panels on top .... suss a level and trim to suit

Also allows him some leeway on the corner angle too ... leaving them loose .

also found a suitable bit of plate to set out a base / head plate for a stub column for Alex's HPX .... after more discussions, we'll give this a try ... got to get his gripper in between those clams, so need a bit of extra space!! :thummar:

... will also allow the use of the extra side entry ports, on the HPX's body, which'll be helpful for plumbing it :grin:

been out with friends today for his 70th and got me 6 month scans & MOT in UCH Cardiff Tuesday, so ain't gonna get a lot done 'fore Wednesday . Must remember to turn the 'Drema round too and stick the 7ft bucket on .... someone said we're having 2+ ft (60cm+) of snow Thursday ..... sod that!! :sad:

couldn't see us getting the same sort of accumulation we had in December :vissla:

had been way too windy for it to settle in significant amounts, other than where it gets blown to :huh:

...but it had been savage cold all day and way down later in the evening

You'd not last long out there unless you were very well equipped for it :eek:

we so rarely see snow, it doesn't take much to grind the place to a standstill. :sad:

Even if you're experienced at driving in snow, it's all the oncoming idiots who aren't, that're the problem :uupps:

Well I spoke way too soon in that last snowy post ..... :uupps:

went down the village for the little un thurs. morning and back in the evening :vissla:

..... drive was getting 'interesting', but the snow was so light and dry .. sugar powder, thought it'd be 'driveable' 'til it warmed up a tad..... been -5C here all day thursday and coming down fairish .. still was :sad:

had cleared the cats a few tracks to the grass/flower beds a few times and had to do it again in the evening .... they don't like wading shoulder deep !! :grin:

by later in the evening we'd had a bloody hell of a lot for us ....
Jeeez was it coming down here as it had done all day.

Had to keep clearing the ever growing heaps against the doors :eek:

..... half way up the cat flap regularly ....
did it again before I went to bed, but it could well be submerged, by the morning.
Cats wiould not be impressed, not as they're overly enthused about being shoulder deep in white shite yet again either :grin:

Rudely awoken at 4 am ....... Squeak rattling the hell out of the kitchen door. :uupps:

Came down to see WTF was wrong .... cat flap completely buried and him wanting out, sharpish. :grin:

So geared up and went and dug yon flap clear .. together with a few routes to some grass which I'd also had to clear .... again ..... did all this 3 ish hours earlier, 'fore I went to bed...... :huh:

could not see where I'd even been :eek:

Had had to do it all again the next morning :aaargh:

Alex has been out and about yesterday and tells me that the roads were / are abysmal, with quite a few smaller ones blocked

Been melting well today and we've even had a bit of sunshine this afternoon.

Spent a few hours saturday lashing together an alternate water supply pipe for the neighbours, after they'd turned up on the door step asking for help with frozen pipes. :sad:

Blue MDPE everywhere, but managed to by pass the frozen bits, warmed up another one and they had water again by the time I'd finished. :thumme:

As said - thawing well this afternoon .... I'm hoping to be able to get the Chelsea Tractor out tomorrow to fetch Clara for the day :grin:

it eventually all 'buggered off' and got replaced by rain ... enough to wash the snow away would have been good, but no ...... it didn't know when to stop :sad:

Week last Friday dawned bright and sunny, :thumme:

contrary to the forecast, :???:

got some gear out to try and get on with a few things.

half hour later it's peeing down !!! :aaargh:

noticed me big concrete block/test weight was looking 'not quite as I left it' as I was tidying me stuff away and thought "better shift that - not looking as safe as it was, on the edge".

anyway ... visitor turned up, coffee was consumed, followed by lunch and it continued to pee down, so thought "sod it - manyana ! "

Mistake, BIG mistake .... it lashed it down that Friday night .... woke me up several times HAMMERING on the Velux window above my head !! :uupps:

Some sort of deluge !!! :sad:

Looked out the bedroom window Saturday morning and though "f**k!!" :sad:

Had young Rory off the CEF coming lunchtime, to pick up his orange peel grab, with his new truck, once he'd collected it from Swindon.

weather on the Saturday wasn't a lot better than the Friday and damned if I was gonna get soaked sorting the problem ... could still get at Rory's grab so ... wait for a drier day. :smile:

The man himself arrived lunchtime and after a couple of cups of tea, a cuddle with Sparty Puss and getting re-acquainted with Clara it'd eased off enough to load his grab. :thumme:

He got me into all sorts of grief on FB with one of his 'legendary' live videos of me tying his grab down .... mostly from numpties who'd no idea of just how good the old half sheep shank with rolling hitch (lorry driver's hitch) is, at holding things stationary on a vehicle !! :aaargh:

was still where we'd parked it when he got back to Kingsbridge, so must've been 'passable' !!
Before ratchet straps, t'was all we had to keep yer load in place and still works fine !! :thummar:

Monday was a little more clement so had an hour or so tidying up the landslide ......

Thursday was just such a "drier day" so decided to get the corner of the hardstand re-organised, so's I could re-locate some of the stuff from up top ..... before it tried doing it, itself !! :eek:

pulled everything out the corner ... buckets, pallets o' crap, walker, etc. and re-juggled it all to fit ......

Lifted down a few bags of stone,on pallets, then re-bagged a few more that'd refused to be lifted onto more pallets ----- Grrrrr! Bloody bio-degradable bags !!!!!!!

She never ceases to amaze me, just what she'll lift, full stretch, on rubber, cross carriage!! ....

admittedly we were on two wheels occasionally, but a careful bit of balancing, whilst I get it a bit closer and it's fine :grin:

could really have done with the VA-r for squeezing 'em into position once down, but the extra 500 kgs'd have made a big difference to lifting 'em down, to start with, :vissla:

so managed to juggle myself about, to get them all somewhere near where I wanted them, ... for now. :smile:

There was another line of bags on pallets across the front there that night, which was about the limit for 'juggling' ..... was getting tight, getting the forks back out, from under the pallets !! :sad:

.... VA-r will deffo get deployed to shift 'em again ... so easy with the forks under that . :cool:

Finished the day off with the disposal of some knackered old pallets that'd been under some of the bags, plus assorted burnable crap .....

now needed some more dumpy bags, to reload a LOT of stone, that's spewed from those bio-f***ing-degradable bags, that've been sat there far too long, for their own good and my patience !! Hence they'm all now sat on pallets, for ease of movement. :thummar:

Hopefully got a local stone mason coming to start on facing my retaining wall shortly and I want to be 'ready' for him, when he decides to start.

had another half day shifting a couple more bags of stone, on pallets, last Friday .... after I'd filled the damned things, by hand, with what had spewed out of the previous receptacles, that'd succumbed to the sunlight :sad:

Had Josh, his wife and baby Shem home for the weekend, Friday evening, after having to postpone, two weeks earlier, due to the bloody snow ....... his 30th Birthday :grin:
