Bugger me if Houdini wasn't back Friday morning !!! :aaargh:

Appeared sometime between 10 and 10.45???? Could not ****ing believe it :uupps:

checked the last known escape route and no signs of use ..... Grrr! :aaargh:

checked the entire fence line, between us and the field ..... nothing .. no signs of exit!!!! :???:

Ushered said sheep back in and watched her for a good half hour :vissla: ... she knew I was watching her and just strolled back to close to her previous escape point and sat and watched me !!!!
I kid you not ..... this is one savvy sheep ! :vissla:

Gave up and carried on extricating nine fence posts from the pile I stupidly put at the back of everything, all nicely banded together, when it was dry enough to get up top ... I really did not want to cut the bands!!

Needed these to replace the ones I'd found knackered, inspecting the fence line !!! :vissla:

Hadn't finished and could hear the boss shouting on me .... " where are you Gra? Houdini's back !!! " ......... FFS!!!!!! :aaargh:

Pam had seen the bugger nonchalantly jump the 4+ft high fence from the bathroom window !!! :uupps: VTO sheep!!! She said that Houdini just walked up to the fence, had a good look around to see if anyone was watching and literally 'hopped' over it!!!!

So .... left her stuffing herself on Chez Druid's best grass for the night Friday :vissla: ... this is one case of the grass is deffo greener, t'other side of the fence!!
It's gonna be lead boots, or a lead pill to keep this lil' bugger in, BTLs ... I sure as hell am not raising the fence line 2 ft for one bloody sheep!!! :aaargh:

bloody thing :aaargh: ..... the neighbour's missus, who's got about a dozen pet woolies, was on about sheep-napping it Friday evening

would get the bloody thing out of my hair :thummar:

Was talking to the guy whose sheep it is Friday afternoon, telling him about its escapades ...... he said "if it keeps on ..... shoot the ****er .... that'll stop it !!" :thumme:
Apparently it wouldn't be the first time it's happened to one of his, :uupps: who's gotten out elsewhere and ate someone's prized garden's contents ... LOL

The 'gardener' completely lost it ....... and shot the bugger!! :uupps:

she's been frog marched up the drive and back into the field seven times now!!
She sure as hell likes my grass !! :thumme:
if she just keeps out of Pam's garden and stops crapping on the drive, she can have it all ..... will save me cutting the bloody stuff :thummar:

she'd obviously 'vaulted' the fence again at some point in the night as no sign first thing, but back munching by ten Saturday.

Alex (from t'other), who lives near me, came round for a cuppa mid morning and we both watched her jump over the mesh, squashing it down some, as she went under the top strainer, as he was leaving. :uupps:

Re-tensioned it all after he'd gone and damn me!! .... she cleared the bloody lot, an hour later and has been munching since!!

I've given up .... she'll be getting moved, along with all her mates, next week apparently, so Rob the owner told me !! :vissla:

Houdini has spent the day today 'mowing the lawn' :thummar:

and is asleep on the drive tonight ..... I presume the tarmac is warmer than the frozen grass each side :vissla:

Was pretty 'cool' here this morning .....

and if the bloody sheep wasn't bad enough :aaargh: ....... I think the local mole population have invested in a TBM (tunnel boring machine) :aaargh:

The mole hills beside the drive are of epic proportions :uupps: :aaargh:

Pretty cool out there this evening ........

pump loaded and gauge showed circa 130bar (which'd put the actual at about 180 bar with the extra 50 bar from the delta pressure) :vissla: ...
'bout 30 bar below the 3000 psi it is supposed to 'tolerate' !! :uupps:

130 bar for just mowing air sound a bit much but I have to admit I don't know how much is normal for such an application.
How do you know you have 65 lpm and what are your hose dimensions?

Hi Boyo  :thumme:
From researching the Bomford Flails Jac, I have sussed that, that motor'll tolerate 3000psi (207bar) .... the breaker valve has an adjustable pressure range from 150 to 350 bar .. http://www.atlanticfluidtech.co.uk/ajax ... ct_id/450/
The flow is variable from 1.5 - 140L/m with a linear adjustment screw ..... IIRC 14L/turn of the screw, so 'twere best guess, based on turns :vissla:

The pipework is all 1" to / from the motor from the dipper's QCs with a cross line relief valve in the pipework about 120 cms from the motor .... the breaker feed is 3/4" and the open to tank return is 1" plumbing on the 'Drema .... non OE / retrofitted, just before I bought her. ;)

This is the motor ......

Bild

If you can come up with any further info. on it, it would be more than welcomed. :vissla: :thumme: but I know for certain it's a 70L/m flow rate and Whitehouse Products, here in the UK say it's 3000 PSI working pressure :thumme:

That all sounds about right.
I forgot about your 50 bar deltaP so mowing air only takes about 80bar.
50bar is very high but like I mentioned, I have seen 50 bar on a Hydrema wheeled machine years ago. Tried to run it on 25 bar to avoid the extra heat but all the digging functions slowed down too much with that setting if I recall correctly. 25 bar will save about 3,5 horsepower of pure heat generation when mowing though.

the poxy weather has been enough to make you spit !!!!!!

and rising ...... :uupps:

Had been foggy as **** here for days, on/off and I said sod it one afternoon, donned 'the gear' and went and did summat!! :vissla:

Hadn't run the old girl up in a good two weeks, so got her well warmed up and set about dismantling the flail, off it's extension arm, as I want to make it an alternate/a n other bracket ... you'll see why when I get it done. :vissla: ;)

Forgot to get a pic of the lift, but stuck a pin through the arm's 50mm boss and slung a hook off each end of it for the chains .... gave me a bit of extra reach to park it on the small bench, out the way and easily accessible for bracket sussing.
I know how/what I'm gonna do .. just need to get it measured/dimensioned, 'fore setting about it.

Bild
Originalets URL: http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y450/v8druid/WP_20161213_15_30_20_Pro_zpsrsmyyvnp.jpg

Then dropped said arm on t'other bench, for stripping off the few bits of it that're gonna get utilised for the alternate mount.

Then it ****ing pissed down :aaargh: .... so that was about it for the day's available light!!

'Kin sheep continued to grace us with its presence ......

I had by now lost count of the amount of times it's been frog marched back up to its field gate .... it got its marching orders yet again, after this pic, having been discovered feasting on Pam's plants!! :aaargh: :aaargh:

cocky little shit that it is .....

.....it was now leaping anything in sight and had started venturing into the neighbour's orchard too ... if it got in with her pet sheep, there'd be hell on !!
They were all 'sposed to have gone to pastures new, by now !!

the morning's challenge for the 13th, was a 3D jigsaw .... and surprisingly 'challenging' it was too!! :uupps:

don't often look at the 'destructions' for summat ... but it was a must for this one :vissla: .... even then it needed a relative degree of thought and nouse to get the various odd/handed bits, just right :thumme: .. some were just the odd mil or two different ... but wouldn't interchange. ... Well they would, but then the screws wouldn't line up and no reference to which was which !! :aaargh:
Can just imagine yer 'average Joe' tackling this 'Little Tike' !! Come back Ikea....all is forgiven !! :vissla:

Have to say ...... well impressed with the quality and the design of this...

..... oh and thoroughly impressed by the hidden mechanism that steers the front wheel, from the pedestrian handle at the rear .... very VERY clever !! :thummar:

spent most of that evening on my knees ..... praying to the boiler God .....
Bild
Originalets URL: http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y450/v8druid/scans/WP_20161214_13_00_15_Pro_zpshprambgk.jpg

Pam informed me tea time that her daughter's boiler had 'stopped playing' .... :aaargh:
so had to trek off down there to see why ...... it's an old girl now and a bit of a 'Trigger's broom'!!
I've kept it going for the last 15 years or more with some Druid magic, a few new bits, as required and regular TLC/servicing. ;)
The mechanical side of it is a POP .... straight forward blown kero burner and associated control bits ..... the electronic bits that make all the 'associated bits' talk to each other, are a different story ..... :uupps:
mechanicals checked out fine ..... so a new box of 'trickery' got ordered for the morning .... couldn't see what else it could be :???: ..... it's almost always the prime suspect ..... so it was fingers crossed for this time too!! :vissla: :thumme:

New box of control tricks arrived and got duly installed ..... to no avail !!!!!!
then spent some time pissing about with it on/off for a few days .... been through absolutely everything and eventually found this, ... a relay with two flying lead connections to the armature blown off !!! :aaargh:

Bild
Originalets URL: http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y450/v8druid/scans/WP_20161216_15_27_52_Pro_zpsxqeutd7a.jpg

took some spotting, with the cover in place on it !! :vissla:

shot home with it and cleaned yon terminals off .... looked like they may have been 'dry'-ish joints from the off ....
God knows how many years ago and summat had blown what little hold they had !! :uupps:

Any how .... soldered 'em back on and had a quick scan through me 'stock' of bits an' bobs, as I knew I had some 11 pins .... Hey presto ... new one!! :thummar:

Pam always accuses me of being a bit of a hoarder, but there ain't many places you'd lay hands on three of these, on a Friday afternoon   ....

Bild
Originalets URL: http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y450/v8druid/scans/WP_20161216_16_26_42_Pro_zpstivghnhj.jpg

.... or a dozen 110 volt coil ones either !!!! :vissla: :skratta3:
Funny how it's always me who gets asked ....
"have you got so & so ...." when anyone wants anything ... :vissla:
otherwise I'm just a hoarder !!!!!

Having re-inserted the repaired relay .... I whipped off the ignition tranny connections (the load on those contacts) :vissla: ... stuck a jury lead on it, to try it ..... sod all occurring-no sparkies and yon meter said fooked !! :aaargh: :vissla:

So ordered a new one for the Monday morning, ran up the old girl, minus sparks and all checked out fine :thumme: .... sequenced as it should ... so hopefully there would be a return to normality for it some time Monday !! :thumme:

I thought the bugger was gonna have me beat................. for a while ....!! :aaargh:

yon sheep got exported on the sunday morning  .... me, the owner, two dogs and a quad .... and we still had a right bloody palaver :vissla: .... and that was just getting it back in the field :uupps: ..... lil' sod!! :aaargh:

Anyways ..... gone .... shipped to pastures new  :hurra:
Grass looks shorter, plants are looking a little less healthy ..... an' there's sheep shit everywhere!!!!! :aaargh: :aaargh:

Rang the suppliers first thing on Monday ........ "Um ... er ..... what was the name again .... er ..... it's not arrived"

"You mean you forgot to order it" :aaargh:

" Um ..... it'll definitely be here in the morning "

So rang 'em Tuesday ... yep it was in, so shot off to Hereford ..... to find the wrong tranny ... FFS !!! :aaargh: :aaargh: :aaargh:

" Well it's the part no. you ordered.... where'd you get the part no. from? " .....

" Off your invoice for the last one in 2004 .... this one in my hand "

The idiot who booked it out in '04 had only put down the wrong part no. :aaargh:

Hereford is a bitch of a place to navigate .... hour in and an hour out .... soooo needs a by-pass

Anyway after yet another call to check the right one had arrived on the Wednesday, I shot off up there yet again, after I'd MOT-ed the Rangey (booked weeks ago) and picked up the right item :hurra: after yet another hour negotiating the bloody traffic to get into H/ford centre, :aaargh: followed by the inevitable hour to get back out   ..... it ain't a big place FFS :vissla: :aaargh:

So ... back to worshiping said boiler on my knees, stuck it all back together, hit the go button and ................. mission accomplished    .. the return of heat at the flick of a switch, to Clara's household.
Sooooo relieved to have it sorted ......again! :vissla:

replacement for this old Selectos D11/20 burner unit is 430 quid plus the Vodka and tonic .... :uupps:
Motor for it's 34 quid, 'tiger loop' pump's 40 summat .... tranny was 50, electrodes and nozzles are pennies and the Satronic/Honeywell was 24 bucks, so pays me to keep the old girl ticking along ;) ... doesn't all go west simultaneously either

If / when the water jacket ever goes south, it'll make a real nice double/triple drum heater for yours truly's boxes/shed and at 0.8 ltr/hr is cheap enough heat .... :thumme:

Got a few more spares to go yet, before I hit the new price level and it's a POP unit to maintain  ....... I'd bet the bugger's 40 yrs old and I'd "rather the devil I know ......."

These new boilers need a degree in astrophysics ........ to turn 'em on !! :aaargh:
If it's got tracks, wheels, t*ts, or an engine, at some point it's gonna give you trouble!! :uupps:

don't yer jus' love ebay    bought a new toy for the 'Drema last Sunday

Shopping for yer digger on Christmas day :thumme:

Watch this space ......... ;)

was going to try and go pick it up later last week ....... if I could escape for several hours !! ....... I didn't, so will have to be next week now :vissla:

Been keeping an eye open for one of these for ages :vissla: ..... bought this one and damn me if an even better one didn't come up the following day ... not so cheap, but a better 'spec.' :aaargh:
Might just buy the second one as well and decide which one to keep .. after i've gotten 'em home and sussed the 'niceties' of them both :vissla: .... They're both a good price and the first one was a quarter of what they usually make

Bild

One fixed arm on this ... advantages and disadvantages :vissla:

Both arms move on this one, but twice the price of the first one at 800 quid
Bild

Both have built in rotater ring gears  .... which I'll either utilise and use them complete as independent att.s .... or remove the rotaters and mount just the clamp under the VA -r :thumme: ...... jury is still out, :vissla: until I have had a good look at my spoils ;).... and have decided whether to acquire the second one too, or whether the first one will suffice .... as I say there are pros and cons for both :vissla: :thumme:

So ..... crimbo over for another one ...... :uupps:

Been a bit of an extended event in Chez Druid ;) ... Kicking off Christmas Eve with a sit down with Pam's daughter, hubby and Clara here and an early prezzy arrival for a certain small person !! ....

Bild

This was a HUGE success !!

Bild

They'd decided they were going no-where on Sunday and having it at their home  ... so everyone was gonna have to go see them. :vissla:
So that was round 1

Round 2 was rather relaxed for us at least :vissla: ... other than a post lunch/late afternoon trek down to see the lil' un !!

Round 3 kicked off the following day (Boxing day) with the arrival of Pam's son Josh and his wife, from Plymouth :thumme: .... via Solihull :uupps: ...... where they'd spent Christmas day with KM's folks. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/NP7+8 ... 730057!3e0

I'd asked him to call and see Delbuoy (one of my mates off the UK forum), on his way out of Plymouth (where they all live) to make a collection for me ...... :vissla:

Bild
Originalets URL: http://i1275.photobucket.com/albums/y450/v8druid/scans/WP_20161227_15_20_09_Pro_zpsi5sm1mhd.jpg

(got it together a couple of days later ... it arrived as Meccano) :thumme:
I've a job for the lil' press and hopefully it'll extract a pin that the sledge has thus far failed to  ...... bit smaller than my old ones in work, but'll hopefully get the job done. .......

Bild

Couldn't leave it alone in Del's w/shop, on its lonesome over crimbo, for the good price Del was asking for it ;) :thumme: .... Josh couldn't fit a few other bits in the C2   Going to be a.n.other trip job :vissla:

So that was Crimbo day No 3

A few days and several batches of visitors later, plus a couple of hours on the bench knocking out a 'pipe hiding pedestal' for 'the boy's' re-vamped bathroom and particularly, in this case, handbasin,

came round 4 .... Pam's Crimbo family gathering .... for 18 !! :uupps: :uupps:

We'd moved the venue from 'ours' last year to a local 'eatery', which went down pretty well :thumme: .... 'specially with our dishwasher   ... so she'd sorted the same again for this year, at an alternate location, which does the most awesome home cooked grub  :thummar:

Pam's never happy unless we've got a houseful !!!!!! :aaargh: A few had disappeared/slipped off elsewhere 'en route' .... or we'd have been sat on each other's laps !! :uupps: :uupps:

Have had some pretty cold nights and mornings this last week, :uupps: but at least it's been relatively dry, for a change ...... :vissla:

The driveway's been a white ribbon through the landscape, several mornings, but with the sun right behind/above it has taken some trying, to get a pic ... worth looking at, at least  ....... and has produced some really good scenery ...... :thummar:

Main road below us has had some pretty foggy mornings !! :uupps:

Oh and 'a certain package' arrived too  .... postage correctly paid this year ... LOL   Ollie forgot to put a stamp on it last year, so had to go collect it from the post office .... and pay double postage :aaargh:

Ollie's a mate off the CEF .... his calendar seems to be quite a sought after item on FB ATM ..... and another friend and I have been having fun, 'winding up' a few folk off there too, saying that you had to join the Ollie Kitchin Appreciation Society FB page, to be able to 'apply' for one    ..... let's say .....it got a bit out of hand!! :uupps: :uupps: :vissla:

Still not managed to escape the asylum, to go get me new toy for the 'Drema yet ..... but having emptied the house of 'extra bodies' Friday morning .... I might stand a chance shortly !!

Round 5 last night was ...... nice and quiet   .... had a houseful in the afternoon, including a the lil' un racing around, but they'd all 'vacated' to alternate venues for the evening's festivities by seven :thummar:  and we had a very leisurely evening :thumme:

back to normal here today ..... pissing down with rain and bloody freezing   .....'sposed to be nice tomorrow though ... might actually do something ..... or collect my new toy   :thummar:

So.... did everyone else have a good time ...... ???? ;)  :vissla:

PS .... one last thing that ppl might enjoy .... found this the other day ... browsing :vissla:

Season's greetings Lars .... hope you had a good one ;)

Grand-dad !!! .. is her first word as she comes through the door ... Pam's not happy  ..... she's yet to utter granny

as for "what's up" ....... well, here's a bit of a taster.....

.... I had planned to go to Ellesmere today ...
got up yesterday feeling like I'd been trampled in a stampede, :aaargh: so rang the guy with me new toy, to see if he'd be up for a direct bank transfer instead of folding and get it banged on a pallet, as I really didn't fancy 5 hours in the car today, ...
especially as it was 'hamster juice' night, last night.

He was, so couldn't fault him :thumme: .. money sorted :thummar:... pallet booked  .. will be collected Friday

Would've liked to have met him as he's a fabby too :vissla: ..... annoyingly he was down here just before Christmas!! .... he has an invite for a cuppa next/any time he's down here ;) ... sounds a real decent bloke. :thummar:

So with any luck it should arrive Monday ....... probably ....... :hurra:

with a bit of Druidisation, I reckon this'll make an interesting boulder/lump/rock/all sorts, handling device .. ;) :thumme:

Was going to get the alternate bracket sorted for the flail today, :vissla: as it was a nice morning  ..... that was until 'the boss' found that BT had locked her email a/c ...

Have had a couple of old ones of mine locked for a while :aaargh: .... BT got hacked a while back and several million ppl's data compromised  ... apparently !! :vissla:
Anyway ..... took some time to sort and quite a loooooooooooooong conversation to regain access to her and my accounts :aaargh: .... knackered the best part of the day, somewhat !! Hoping for a decent day tomorrow ....
.. but it's also a Clara day too! :vissla:

I've been looking for a decent second hand trailer for a while, to go behind the 'Drema and provide storage/transportation for all it's toys, in one go ;)

this looked large enough to fit the bill  .... at a reasonable price. :???: I also like the axle position on this ... ideal for a duck :thumme:  ....... and it has over run braking ..... perfect for a duck :thummar: :thummar:

Rang the guy for some dimensions and regrettably it was smaller than it looked in the pix .... a bare 2m wide by a bare 4m long, but 5 ton capacity ... he reckoned it weighs about 2 tons empty. :vissla:

really want something over 2m wide internally :vissla:  so I can sit my 2m grading bucket across it and unload with it too. ;)

It's 1978 vintage amazingly ... I know Krone are good but this must have had a 'sheltered' life ... literally.

down sides, other than the size, were; its brakes are seized - off, fortunately, the tyres are decidedly old and sounds as though they will need replacing at the first sign of weight :uupps: and it has been repaired in the front right hand corner  .. doubtfully to my standards  :vissla:
plus it's 160 miles from me and he is asking its top value IMHDO .... by the time I get it home, - 300 quid,- buy it new tyres (circa 150-180each +VAT) sort the brakes, the exiting body repair and anything else he has conveniently forgotten to tell me about, with the asking price of £1550 + 20% VAT it has become one expensive trailer ..... for its age .... and it still isn't wide enough for what i want

he's keen to sell it as he's messaged me tonight to say he has a truck coming my way/past me on Wednesday ...... don't think it will have this on board though

I'm of the opinion it will still be there in a few weeks time :vissla: ...... and perhaps he will be more amenable to a better discussion, regarding the price .... he won't currently budge from his figure!! :aaargh:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172461735267? ... 1436.l2649

I've not been able to find anything locally worth looking at and to be honest, very little comes up at 5t capacity .... some quite decent stuff at 2-3 tons but again usually too small at that capacity  :aaargh:
If it's got tracks, wheels, t*ts, or an engine, at some point it's gonna give you trouble!! :uupps:

haven't had a great deal of time to do much to it other than give a bit of a clean off and de-oil the ram ...... as Frank, the guy from Norway on the CEF also arrived Tuesday evening and have been doing the 'mein host' bit, 'til Saturday morning !! :vissla:

I will have to have the rest of the hydraulics apart for emptying/blowing out, 'fore it gets shown any of the 'Drema's QCs or bio. :vissla:

have to say ;) ...... the rotator'd make a fine MkII VA-r  ..... or a smaller one even !! :vissla: :thummar:

Dunno who was more surprised to see this lot Thursday evening / Friday morning !! Me or him !! :aaargh:

Fortunately it'd mostly gone by the end of Saturday !! :thummar:

this eventually loaded ....... :vissla:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwnusslRIus&feature=youtu.be

To be fair ..... Frank had been in her about 3 minutes, :vissla: my rotate is reverse to his and he was having to re-learn/remember to use foot-pedal power for all the motions on the VA-r, :vissla:
instead of just using his thumb-rockers ;) ... mine's buttons and prop. oil, on the left trotter ;) :vissla:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPUv3eBcYLw&feature=youtu.be

....... don't think the bucket would've been his first choice :vissla:   ....... if he'd been at home ..... in fact I doubt he'd ever seen one like it on his dipper   :lmao:
